The Annual Winchester Greek Festival will take place on Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21th, 2016.

Come hungry…  A large selection of tasty Greek food is available.  From the kitchen,  we have baked entries which includes Athenian Chicken, Moussaka, Pastitsio, and Spanakopita.  From the spits, we have Gyros, Souvlaki, and Roasted Lamb.  And from our bakers, we have an assortment of delicious sweets and pastries that will satisfy any sweet tooth.

If you would like to learn more about the Holy Orthodox Christian Faith, informal guided tours of the Church are given by our Presiding Priest, Father Panagiotis.  Questions about the Faith and traditions are welcome.  Also, the Book Store will be open offering religious items and reading material of the Orthodox faith.

Other retail vendors will also be set-up to display their various items for purchase.
    
Admission is free and ample free parking is available.

Greek cooking offers an incredibly rich and diverse array of foods that are the culmination of literally thousands of years of good living, cooking, and eating.  While each Greek menu item offered is fresh and inviting, it is also a culinary trip to Greece.   Our talented ladies of the church work for days in advance of the festival creating delicious Greek food.  The following menu items are offered for purchase.

A LA CARTE   (Inside Church Hall)

Athenian Chicken
One-Half Chicken seasoned with herbs, lemon, and garlic & roasted until golden brown.

Roast Lamb 
Tender young lamb seasoned with herbs.

Souvlaki (pronounced "soo-VLAH-kee")
Tenders pieces of marinated pork or chicken grilled on a skewer over hot coals.

Moussaka
Layers of fresh eggplant and seasoned ground beef flavored with tomato and cheese, topped with a rich cream (béchamel) sauce.

Pastitsio 
The Greek version of Lasagna.  Baked macaroni layered with seasoned ground beef and cheese, topped with a rich cream (béchamel) sauce.

Spanakopita 
A delicious blend of spinach, feta cheese & herbs, wrapped in layers of buttered filo, baked to a golden brown.

Tiropita 
Blend of Greek Cheeses wrapped in buttered filo, baked to a golden brown.

Dolmades 
Grape leaves stuffed with seasoned rice, onions & herbs.

Greek Salad 
Mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and Greek dressing.

String Beans
Stewed Greek Style with onions, tomatoes, & herbs.

Manestra
Orzo pasta cooked in tomato sauce & delicately seasoned.

Bowl of Feta and Kalamata Olives.

Tsoureki (Sweet Bread) 
A sweet & moist Greek bread, freshly baked.

Baklava
Chopped walnuts & cinnamon sugar, layered between buttered filo, baked to a golden brown, then basted with honey.

Flogeres
Rolled version of Baklava drizzled with chocolate.

Galaktoboureko 
Deliciously flavored custard baked in buttered filo and glazed with light honey syrup.

Kataifi 
Chopped nuts & spices wrapped in shredded filo, lightly buttered and smothered with honey butter.

Koulourakia 
Greek butter cookies.

Kourambiethes
Lightly buttered cookies seasoned with spices and sprinkled with confectionary sugar.

Karithopita 
Walnut cake, spiced and soaked in a tangy syrup.

Gift Box 
Assortment of Pastries (Can be Frozen).

GRILLS & SPITS   (Outside)

Gyro  (pronounced "Yee-roh") 
A delicious combination of delicately seasoned beef & lamb roasted on a vertical turning spit until a crispy crust begins to develop.  The crispy crust of the seasoned beef & lamb is sliced off thinly with a very sharp knife.  Then, a generous amount of the crispy seasoned beef & lamb is wrapped in a warm pita bread with lettuce, tomato, onions and tzatziki sauce (a tangy garlic, cucumber & yogurt dip).  (The Gyros are made fresh and patrons can request personalized orders.)

Souvlaki in Pita 
Tender pieces of marinated pork or chicken grilled on a skewer over hot coals.  The pork or chicken is then wrapped in warm pita bread & served with lettuce, tomato, onions and tzatziki sauce. (The Souvlaki Pitas are made fresh and patrons can request personalized orders.)

Tzatziki 
Cool, creamy & tangy yogurt cucumber dip flavored with garlic.

Greek Fries 
French fries with Greek Spices.

Greek Salad 
Mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and Greek dressing.

Our Famous Spit-Roasted Whole Lambs (Sunday Only) 
Whole lambs seasoned with lemon & herbs.  Roasted over spit with hot coals.  Sliced and sold by the pound.

Loukoumades 
Deep fried, light & fluffy Greek donuts bathed in sweet syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Ice Cream

Baklava Sundae 
Vanilla ice cream topped with Baklava sprinkles and honey.
